The History of Shed Motorsport

Shed Motorsport is run by two amateur motorsport enthusiasts from Somerset; Tim Painter and Andy Fraser, who have competed in motorsport speed events for many years throughout the country and are currently co-driving in two popular championships, The Motorsport UK British Hillclimb Cup and The Midland Hillclimb Championship

Their Motorsport activities have previously been supported throughout these years by Tipadel Limited, Tim’s well known builders merchants business, allowing them to compete in a number of exciting and powerful cars which have included an MG Metro 6R4 rally car, a Gould Ralt GR37 single seater, several Porsche GT3 cars and more recently Aston Martin Vantage GT4 racing cars.

Tipadel was however sold to a national firm of builder’s merchants in 2018 and Shed Motorsport was established to continue Tim and Andy’s involvement in motorsport

Tipadel sponsored many motorsport events throughout the years, and for seventeen years was the main sponsor of the Longleat Speed Hillclimb run by the enthusiastic and extremely capable Woolbridge Motor Club. Tipadel also sposored a class at Gurston Down hillclimb venue for many years, now our most local hillclimb with a calendar of well over-subscribed events run by the BARC South Western Centre from March to September, the highlight each year being the Motorsport UK Hillclimb Championship rounds which attract a large crowd of spectators to see probably the most desirable range of competiition cars and fastest single seaters.

For the 2016 to 2019 hillclimbing seasons, Tim and Andy drove this Prodrive Aston Martin Vantage GT4 complete with a 4.7 V8 engine and 7 speed paddle shift automated manual gearbox. With a few mods to make things a bit lighter we had four seasons of brilliant fun.

Our infamous MG Metro 6R4 with TPR 4100 bodywork. This was bought as a rally car and gradually developed over the years for hillclimbing. It was fitted with a 3 litre international spec V6 engine producing IRO 400bhp and mated to a 5 speed straight cut gear dog box.
